Director of Development


Scope of responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Strategic Plan to be designed in the Fall 2011, along with the Board of Directors and the other members of the leadership team. 
  • Serve as staff representative to the Board of Directors, providing all materials and support necessary for the Board to undertake fundraising activities on behalf of EFBA; 
  • Create a major gifts programs, including its endowment and planned giving components; 
  • Build and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects for major gifts of $5000 and above, maintaining regular meetings and/or communications with these donors throughout the year; 
  • Oversee planning and implementation of donor cultivation events, including annual special event ($150K); 
  • Develop and direct donor acknowledgement programs; 
  • Recruit, train and coordinate board members and other volunteers in identifying, cultivating and soliciting donations; 
  • Collaborate with alumnae and parents on fundraising events and activities; 
  • Write, develop and disseminate fundraising/marketing communications; 
  • Prepare and manage individual fundraising budget with input from the President and the Board of Directors. 
  • Share oversight of departmental infrastructure, including tracking pledges, acknowledging gifts, etc. 
  • Build with the help of the President, the Volunteer Coordinator and the Board of Directors a Development Department, including volunteer and paid help. 

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 year successful experience in major sales or fundraising
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building relationships and closing gifts in the four to five-figure ranges.
  • Ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls and implementing cultivation strategies
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and to keep clear documentation.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and possess a California Driver’s license, insurance and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends for special events

This is a full-time employee exempt position.

Compensation:  After a 3 month introductory period, compensation will be commensurable with experience and proven result.
