Our Classes - School Year 2014-2015

French native speakers

  • Petits Francophones Non-Readers (Kindergarten students only - 3 hours/week)
    This class welcomes only non readers. Students will learn to play with words and sounds through songs and rhythms. They will also have the opportunity to start learning how to read in French. This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS
  • Petits Francophones Readers (1st Grade students only - 3 hours/week)
    This class is for beginner readers. Students will develop their reading and grammar skills and will start writing short essays on topics about every day life situations.This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS
  • Grands Francophones (2nd to 6th Grades - 3 hours/week)
    In this class, students will be encouraged to develop their speaking and writing skills.Students will get a greater exposure to francophone culture through a wide range of books, fiction and non-fiction and will also be introduced to social studies in the francophone world. This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. Non-native speakers

  • Petits Anglophones (K and 1st Grades - 1.5 hours/week)
    This class welcomes non-readers and beginner readers. The students will discover French through games and songs and will learn some basic vocabulary to present themselves and describe simple situations.This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS
  • Moyens Anglophones (2nd and 3rd Grades - 1.5 hours/week)
    This class welcomes beginner readers and will focus on enhancing students' grammar and writing skills. They will be taught how to read simple written instructions and they will also be expected to produce small writing samples relating to everyday life activities. This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. WAITLIST
  • Grands Anglophones (4th to 6th Grades - 3 hours/week)
    In this class, we will introduce grammar and conjugation, increase students' vocabulary and initiate them to francophone culture. The objective for the students is to become autonomous in simple everyday life situations (family, meals, holidays, school, etc.). This class will be taught at Kensington Hilltop. WAITLIST
  • Middle School Anglophones (7th Grade and above - 3 hours/week) 
    The purpose of this class is to ensure students reach the French 1 level so that they may integrate French 2 when entering high school. This class will be taught at Portola Middle School. REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS

Placement test: each child will take a placement test at the beginning of the year to assess his/her French knowledge and establish which level is right for him. We reserve the right to re-assign the student to a different class based on test results.

*By making a one-time payment for the entire school year, you will save $50 on the tuition for the classes that meet twice a week ($30 for classes that meet once a week).  

Sibling discounts: A 10 % sibling discount will be applied on each registered child of the same family.

Registration to one of the above classes grants access to our programs Museum Quest and Kids Night Out throughout the year, at no additionnal cost! Space is limited. Registration (and cancellation, when applicable) is required.

 

Logistics

Play time before classes: A 40-minute play time is available prior to the beginning of class. 
An adult will watch the children and play with them in French.
 
School Year Calendar: We follow the Berkeley Unified School District calendar

The sibling discount will be calculated and confirmed once we will receive your online registration. You will receive an email confirmation before your credit card is charged.
